Give a rejected Peppol construction invoice an owner before resubmission

Route a Peppol rejection to one owner who checks the response, source invoice, project evidence and corrected resubmission.

A rejection is not solved by repeatedly sending the same invoice. It needs an owner who can distinguish transport, recipient, reference, tax and commercial disputes and then choose the correct next action.

Preserve the response

Keep the invoice identifier, recipient, time, response status and message with the source invoice. Peppol's Invoice Response profile documentation describes a structured way to communicate invoice handling, but the exact message still needs to be interpreted in its business context.

Classify before editing

Check whether the issue concerns the endpoint, required reference, invoice data, duplicate status or an underlying disagreement about the work. Do not change amounts or tax treatment merely to clear a technical queue. Link project evidence and involve the appropriate commercial or accounting owner.

Create one correction path

Record the correction, reviewer and relationship to the original invoice. Confirm the recipient and route before resubmission. If a credit note or other legal correction is required, follow the current accounting rules rather than overwriting history.

Close with proof

Verify the new delivery or response and close the exception only when the expected result is visible. Keep failed attempts together so ageing reports do not create parallel owners.

Enfin connects invoice, customer and project context so the exception can be assigned and explained. It does not guarantee that every rejection is technical or automatically correct tax data. Explore Enfin, pricing, or discuss invoice exception handling.

Test the record with a real exception

Before adopting the workflow, use a case with a missing source, two similar records or an unavailable owner. Check that the process stops with a clear question instead of silently choosing. Ask someone who did not prepare the record to find the source, decision and next step.

State what must still be decided outside the software. An accountant, prevention adviser, site manager or public authority may remain the competent decision maker. The digital workflow should make that handoff visible and attach the answer to the correct project, customer, invoice or document.

Schedule another review when the scope, party, official guidance, contract or product setting changes. The record then supports controlled execution rather than promising that old evidence or configuration stays valid automatically. Define who can reverse an error, notify affected people and decide that the exception is genuinely closed. Record that agreement with the project owner for the next review.
