Collect the Limosa-1 proof before work begins

The foreign worker or self-employed contractor should present the Limosa-1 declaration proof before starting activities in Belgium. The proof contains a QR code that can assist Checkinatwork registration for immovable-property work. Treat the document as an input, not as proof that presence has already been registered. Match the name, declaration period, workplace and employer to the planned assignment. If the proof is missing or does not cover the job, stop onboarding and route the exception to the responsible contractor.

Agree who performs the presence registration

Official guidance places responsibility on both the party sending someone to work and the person performing the work. They should agree who registers and both should verify that it happened. A foreign worker can scan the Limosa-1 QR code, or an authorised Belgian representative, colleague, team leader or foreign company can register through an available channel. Record the chosen route and a backup route before the worker reaches the gate, especially when mobile connectivity or secure portal access is uncertain.

Verify the result, not only the scan

A successful camera scan does not by itself prove a completed registration. Capture the acknowledgement or status, date, workplace and person, then check it against the daily crew list. Registration must occur before the person begins the relevant work and is required daily or for each workday under the existing Checkinatwork guidance. Keep the QR image protected because it contains declaration data. Do not copy it into broad group chats when a controlled onboarding record is available.

Separate today's Checkinatwork from the 2027 expansion

The current Working in Belgium Checkinatwork guidance explains the Limosa QR routes. Belgium has also announced an expanded Check In and Out at Work regime for immovable-property work from 1 April 2027. Do not merge the two procedures prematurely. Label which service and legal scope apply to the site today, monitor official updates and retrain the gate or site team before any change in required IN, OUT and break registration.
