Update a construction team role with Alfie only after reviewing access impact

Compare the current and proposed role, open responsibilities and sensitive access before confirming a consequential team change.

Changing a team role can alter who sees invoices, customer data, projects or settings. A request such as make Sam admin is incomplete when several people share the name or the organisation context is unclear. The role change should show both the access gained and the responsibilities that may need reassignment.

Start with the current source and the right identity

Enfin's current Alfie page describes an assistant that prepares work while leaving consequential decisions to the user. Current application source registers update_team_member_role as a high-risk action, with explicit confirmation and channel rollout controls. It does not imply automatic HR authority or identity-provider integration.

Turn the source into one bounded decision

Resolve the organisation and exact member, then compare current role with proposed role. Review invoice, project, customer, reporting and settings access plus outstanding approvals. If the intent is temporary cover, record the end condition rather than silently granting a permanent role.

Keep evidence without hiding the next step

Show the proposed change and impact to an authorised confirmer. Keep requester, confirmer, timestamp and previous role. Removing a member, cancelling an invitation and changing a role are separate actions; Alfie should not substitute one for another from an ambiguous request.

Test exceptions before making the workflow routine

Test at least a missing company number, an ambiguous party, a duplicate and a temporarily unavailable source. The workflow should stop with a focused question and name an owner. Keep the source, review date, input, outcome and confirmation without copying more personal data than needed. Escalate tax, legal, labour or safety uncertainty to the competent person.

Repeat the check when the amount, party, invoice action, site, schedule or official instruction changes. An earlier result is useful context, not automatic permission. Define who corrects an error, who informs affected people and when the exception is genuinely closed.

Make the status readable to a colleague who did not prepare the file. They should see what was checked, what remains uncertain and which next action is allowed or blocked. Use stable fields for identity, date, source and decision; a free-text note can explain the evidence but should not be the only evidence.

Connect the record to controlled execution

Enfin can connect the customer, supplier, quote, project, task, document and invoice in one record. Alfie can prepare information and propose an action within available permissions; an authorised user confirms consequential actions. Explore Enfin, compare pricing or discuss your workflow.
